Ross Carter of the Ross Carter Barber Shop in Mary Street, confesses he is missing the shop, the banter and the business during the coronavirus crisis, but adds: “Yes these are hard times, but although bored and frustrated we are doing the right thing by staying at home.”

He added: “Be assured as soon as we get the green light to open again we will be ready – although we might have a lot of home haircuts to fix”.

Social media comments suggest his shop could resemble an Australian sheep shearing station when he’s able to resume business.

One regular customer commented: “I’ll look like Charles Manson by the time this is over, but keeping your families safe is the number one priority”.

Another said: “I'll be looking like Kevin Keegan in his prime – stay safe”.
