Further nine Covid-19 cases recorded in Forth Valley over night

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Forth Valley since the outbreak began is now 1263, according to latest figures.

Thursday’s data released by the Scottish Government shows there were a further nine positive cases recorded in the health board area in the last 24 hours.

And in the last seven days in the region there have been 40 new cases.

The latest figures come as NHS Forth Valley earlier revealed contact tracing is taking place at three local schools – St Mungo’s High School, Stenhousemuir Primary School and St Margaret’s Primary School in Polmont - after individuals tested positive for coronavirus.

Health bosses said there was currently no evidence to suggest any transmission within the educational establishments at this stage.

They said those who had tested positive were isolating at home with other family members.

Across Scotland on Thursday there were 290 new cases recorded, bringing the total number of positive cases since the outbreak began to 23,573.
