Further Covid-19 deaths across Falkirk district

A further three people in the Falkirk Council area who had tested positive for Covid-19 have died.

Latest figures released by the National Records of Scotland revealed that there have now been 134 coronavirus-linked deaths in the area.

Of the latest deaths which came in the last seven days, one was in a care home and two took place in hospital.

There have been 65 care home deaths in Falkirk district, 54 in hospital and 15 at home.

Across Forth Valley there have been 236 deaths – 119 in care homes, 93 in hospital and 24 at home.

At the end of June there had been 1070 people in Forth Valley who had tested positive for Covid-19.

However, there are currently fewer than five of these being treated in hospital – the Scottish Government does not release the figure if it is less than five.

Forth Valley has the fifth highest Covid-19 death rate per 10,000 head of population in Scotland at 7.7.

It is behind Greater Glasgow and Clyde (11.2), Lanarkshire (8.7) and Ayrshire & Arran and Lothian, both on 7.9.
