Wednesday’s Scottish Government’s figures show the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the health board region rose by ten overnight, bringing the total since the outbreak began to 1213.

The daily statistics placed Forth Valley behind NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, NHS Lothian and NHS Lanarkshire with 63, 29 and 19 new cases respectively.

For the second day in a row there had been a new case recorded in every Scottish mainland health board.

The news comes as NHS Forth Valley confirmed on Wednesday that contact tracing was currently taking place at three schools within the region – Larbert High, Stenhousemuir Primary and Banchory Primary School in Tullibody – after individuals tested positive for coronavirus.

According to the Test and Protect team the initial information suggests the virus was contracted outside of the schools and there is no evidence at this stage of any transmission within the school premises.
