Forth Valley are testing more people for Covid-19

The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in Forth Valley continues to rise as health chiefs reveal results are being delivered quicker.

NHS Forth Valley says it is conducting around 200 tests a day at its drive through test centres in the grounds of Falkirk Community Hospital, Bowhouse Community Centre in Grangemouth and Stirling Health and Care Village.

Analysis of tests is now taking place in the laboratories in Forth Valley Royal Hospital rather than being sent to Glasgow. This is allowing results to be turned round in around 24 hours.

As more people are being tested, more positive cases are confirmed with the totally currently standing at 680 – a rise of 18 in the last 24 hours.

There has also been a small increase of three in patients currently being treated in hospital with this number now 87 and of these, six are in intensive care.

The number of deaths in Forth Valley from Covid-19 currently stands at 90 with the weekly update due on Wednesday.

Across Scotland the number of deaths linked to coronavirus has risen to 1262 with 13 of these in the last day.

A total of 50,294 people in Scotland have been tested. Of these, 39,773 were confirmed negative and 10,521 were positive – around 21 per cent of the total tests.
