Covid-19 patient numbers in Forth Valley hospitals remain stable

The number of patients in Forth Valley hospitals being treated or suspected to have coronavirus has remained stable.

There are currently 26 inpatients and less than five in Forth Valley Royal Hospital’s intensive care unit – the Scottish Government figures do not reveal if there are less than five.

This compares to 88 last Friday.

There have been 828 people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in Forth Valley, an increase of ten in the last 24 hours.

However, it comes as NHS Forth Valley and the NHS throughout Scotland has stepped up the number of tests it can carry out.

Scotland now has capacity for more than 10,000 tests per day, set to rise to 12,000 next week.

Across the country, a total of 69,191 people have been tested through NHS labs. Of these, 56,042 were confirmed negative and 13,149 were positive.

This means 19 per cent of those being tested were positive, while earlier this week it was 25 per cent.
