Coronavirus cases increase again in Forth Valley

The number of people in Forth Valley testing positive for Covid-19 has again increased.

After a 48-hour period with no new cases, there have been an additional 17 positive results overnight bringing the total to 856.

This is now 28 new cases in the past two days.

There are currently 26 people being treated in Forth Valley hospitals and less than five of these is in Forth Valley Royal’s intensive care unit – the Scottish Government does not reveal the figure in its daily updates if the figure is below five.

There have been 156 deaths in the region linked to coronavirus and 86 of these were in the Falkirk Council area.

The updated figures are due to be released tomorrow.

NHS Forth Valley has three testing centres in the grounds of Falkirk Community Hospital, Bowhouse Community Centre in Grangemouth and Stirling Health and Care Village.

Last week the Army set up a testing centre in Langless and key workers can also request tests at centres set up at Glasgow or Edinburgh airports.

A total of 75,570 people in Scotland have been tested through NHS labs to date. Of these, 61,807 were confirmed negative and 13,763 were positive.
