Aldi eases restrictions on most products at Falkirk district store

Shoppers at Aldi’s Redbrae Road store in Camelon will be able to buy as many items as they like from Monday – except for just three hot in-demand products.

The three which remain restricted are hand wash, shower gel (maximum four of each allowed) and UHT milk (maximum two allowed).

The move follows an apparent easing of the panic-buying which has swept Britain in recent weeks, frequently making it difficult for NHS and emergency workers to buy basic food and household items after their shifts.

To answer this unnecessary problem the store introduced early opening on Sundays reserved for NHS and emergency workers, and while things have reportedly improved this will continue.

From this weekend, customers will also be offered wipes to disinfect trolleys and baskets when they enter Aldi stores.

As a further measure to improve customer safety, Aldi is introducing new priority shopping hours for elderly or vulnerable customers whose only option is to visit stores in person.

From Monday, exclusive access will be given to stores for these customers 30 minutes before normal opening times, Monday to Saturday.

Shoppers will also be able to use their contactless card for purchases worth up to £45, allowing more customers to pay without cash or contact with payment terminals.
