Chef taking on skydive to help Carron care home buy wheelchair-adapted minibus

A chef is going to extreme measures in a daring bid to raise enough funds to allow a care home to buy a wheelchair-adapted minibus for its residents.

Nikos Kokkoris planned to take on a sponsored skydive earlier this year in aid of Carrondale Care Home, where he works, to help generate the £17,000 needed to pay for the vehicle.

The event had to be postponed due to the Scottish Government’s coronavirus restrictions, however, the cook is now planning to leap from a plane thousands of feet above St Andrews on January 23, 2021.

Carrondale Care Home staff are hoping to raise £17,000 to buy a wheelchair-adapted minibus for residents.

Staff at the Carron service say the minibus would give them “freedom to assist residents in fulfilling their wishes by visiting places they would otherwise be unable to visit”.

Carrondale Care Home is a 70-bed, purpose-built facility that cares for the elderly, those with dementia and younger adults with various life-limiting conditions.
