Maddiston mates Campbell McIntosh, Zander Marshall, Tam Forsyth and Tom Pitt all scaled Britain’s biggest mountain, Ben Nevis, near Fort William.

They did it for the oncology unit at Larbert’s Forth Valley Royal Hospital where Zander’s father was treated for cancer before his death.

The adventurers also held a fundraising night in the village’s Polmont Golf Club.

Tam said: “It was a really hard climb which took us the best part of a day and we were very sore afterwards but it was well worth it.

“We wanted to give something back to the unit that took care of Zander’s dad, Alex, so well and we’d all like to thank everyone who supported us and donated money to such a good cause.”
