Falkirk Council has confirmed the Westquarter Primary pupils have been suspended.

The local authority said the decision had been made, in agreement with the youngsters’ parents, after it was discovered the pupils had taken ibuprofen and paracetamol into the Westquarter school without permission.

A council spokesman said: “It was brought to our attention that three pupils were seen in school with what appeared to be tablets of some sort.

“On further investigation these were found to be ibuprofen and paracetamol.

“Senior management at the school discussed the situation with the parents of the pupils concerned and all supported the school decision to exclude the pupils.

“Targeted education for all the pupils involved has been discussed with the parents and the school will also ensure that every opportunity is taken to remind the pupils involved of how any medicines etc cannot be brought into the school unless under supervision/permission.”
