The award is granted to schools that show commitment to promoting and realising children’s rights and encouraging adults, children and young people to respect the rights of others in school.
This is the third time the school in Polmont has received a gold re-accreditation certificate, showing a deep and thorough commitment to children’s rights at all levels of school life.

Helen Snedden, headteacher at St Margaret’s, said: “As headteacher I am incredibly proud of the staff team and the children of the school. We have been a Rights Respecting Gold School for some time now and to be the first school in Falkirk to achieve reaccreditation for the third time is testimony to the commitment we have to ensuring that children’s rights are embedded into our practice.
"We have continued on our journey throughout the disruptions of Covid and Children’s Rights remains a priority for us as a school community. I’d like to extend a huge thank you to the children of St Margaret’s, the staff and our wider community for supporting us in maintaining our Gold Rights Respecting School status.”
The award recognises achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of a school’s planning, policies and practice.
A Rights Respecting School is a community where children’s rights are learned, taught, practised, respected, protected and promoted.
