Anyone hoping to choose and apply for a course starting in early 2022 will be delighted to know that the college has courses available across all four teaching departments: Business and Communities; Care, Sport and Construction; Creative Industries, Hospitality and Tourism; and Engineering and Science.

Improve your career potential

You could be a Christmas school leaver eager to push on and enter a trade, or someone who realised that school was not for them and are keen to flourish in further education - If you are then they want to hear from you.

You could be taking the next step in your career - enhance your skills and start the New Year with a college place.

Gaining a place on an access course in January could lead to enrolment on a higher level course upon successful completion, further improving your career potential.

The college welcomes 13,500 students per academic session with 94 per cent of learners progressing to further studies or employment upon completion of their course – proof that completing a course here is an excellent starting point for a successful career.

A leader in science and technology

If you are interested in studying an engineering or science subject the college is one of Scotland’s leading STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) colleges and strategically linked to the Grangemouth strip with their numerous strong industry connections. Their January start engineering courses include Newstart Construction & Engineering, which is aimed at learners who want to experience a range of academic and vocational subjects whilst simultaneously improving their core skills; Access to Engineering and NC Engineering Systems are also open for applications which can provide you with a broad range of knowledge - preparing you for further study in a range of engineering areas, including electrical, mechanical, fabrication and welding.

If science is more your thing, also on offer is Preparation for Laboratory Technician Work. This is a new course for 2022, where you have the opportunity to study units from chemistry, maths and biology - allowing you to explore what interests you most. Depending on your career interests, upon completing the course you can then apply for a full time course starting in August or secure employment in a science-related sector.

Vocational qualifications

Care, Sport and Construction courses are also available at their Falkirk and Alloa campuses and are arguably one of the best learning facilities to be found anywhere in Scotland. Their care January start courses include Newstart Care & Communities and Step into Early Learning and Childcare, with progression onto further study in education, youth work and childcare at the college.

If you are a budding chef and looking for a career in hospitality their City & Guilds Professional Cookery courses could be for you. Learn how to prepare and cook fish, meat, poultry and vegetables in their industry standard training restaurant at the Stirling campus.

Back to business

Business courses are also on offer in early 2022 at their Falkirk campus. The Newstart Business and Preparation for Employment (Business) courses are ideal if you are looking to pursue a career in business administration or finance. These courses can equip you with the foundations if you are interested in studying a full time course starting August 2022.

If you enjoy working with others and are interested in pursuing a career in customer service their Preparation for Employment course is the one for you! Through this 14 week programme you will benefit from both theory and practical experience with a local employer in sectors such as hospitality, retail or charity.
