Laptop computer deliveries to techless students in Falkirk area

It’s not just pizzas and other takeaways being delivered to students’ flats in the Falkirk area – thanks to Forth Valley College they are also receiving laptop computers.

Students without access to lap-tops have benefited from a new FVC scheme to deliver devices to their homes during lockdown.

Around 360 laptops have been reconstituted by FVC’s IT department and made ready for use by students living across Forth Valley, who previously did not have use of the machines at home.

Several members of FVC support staff have been involved in delivering the lap-tops to students eager to catch up with coursework during the current situation working online from home.

David Allison, FVC’s vice principal of information systems and communications, said: “We wanted to make sure that no one would be disadvantaged by having to work online from home during the lockdown and our IT, learning and teaching and student support departments – as well as some lecturers - have stepped up to the

plate to get these laptops out to the students who need them most at this time.

“I am very proud of them all.”
