Concerned parents were wondering if this morning’s threat was real or a hoax after viewing a message on the Police Scotland facebook site which did not give details of a specific school or area.

A council spokesman said: “Currently no Falkirk schools have been affected by these hoax calls that are being received across Scotland. School staff are always vigilant and will work with Police Scotland to address any concerns that are raised.”

Police Scotland have been evacuating and searching schools in other areas, however.

A spokesman said: “A number of schools across the central belt have received a threat via the telephone. Police Scotland would like to reassure the public that at present these do not appear to be credible threats, however they are being taken seriously.

“Staff and police are working with local authorities and are currently searching school buildings. Some schools as a precautionary measure, have been evacuated. Significant enquiries are underway.”
