Start your engines for Drive it Day event at The Kelpies
Classic motorcycle owning enthusiasts have been encouraged to drive the extra mile for Childline by taking part in this year’s Drive It Day event at The Kelpies.
Set to take place on Sunday, April 26 the charity drive gives owners of vintage vehicles the chance to show off their prized possession and help raise money for a worthwhile cause.
Central Vintage Motorcycle Club has organised the ride out to the Falkirk attraction later this month with a static display of classic, rare and restored bikes from across the decades.
Alexander Adams, treasurer and membership manager of Central Vintage Motorcycle Club, said: “We've done Drive it Day previously with our classic car but we're both into our classic bikes as well - we have 14 in total. We take part in this event because we have two young grandsons and Childline is a very worthwhile charity.”
The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Club’s (FBHVC) annual event raises money for essential NSPCC Childline services such as free counselling and support for young people in need.
Jane Horsley, NSPCC supporter relationship fundraiser, said: “We are delighted that the FBHVC has agreed to support Childline for another five years with their Drive It Day event.
“It is always a fantastic sight to see the many wonderful vehicles being displayed at events across the country and giving people a chance to see some wonderful cars up close. Every penny raised from these events supports the NSPCC’s Childline service which gives children and young people a chance to seek support.”
