Wedding venue wins licence

The bid from The Parsonage at Dunmore Park in Airth for the provisional granting of premises licences covering the house and a marquee was granted when Falkirk Council Licensing Board met.

They will become permanent when owners the Aurora Hotels group secure the required environmental health and building control certificates from the council.

The board approved the application after rejecting objections from residents in the neighbouring village of Dunmore because they had arrived five weeks after the June deadline.

The residents claimed that was because the 2016 wedding season had only resumed in July and it had been quiet until then.

Since 2013, The Parsonage, owned by businessman Steven McLeod, has been granted 140 occasional licences to serve alcohol at weddings and parties in the former private house and a marquee in the grounds.

After similar complaints last September, Mr McLeod promised to install equipment to keep keep the noise down.

He said: “I want to be a good neighbour. Everything that was promised last September has been done, but if there are other measures we can take we will look at that.”

He said a band that had “vandalised” the noise control equipment at The Parsonage has been banned from performing in any Aurora hotels.
