The coffee giants have applied for planning permission to transform the empty Carphone Warehouse unit, creating 20 new jobs.

Plans show that the cafe will have seating for 60 people, with a mixture of sofas, tables and chairs and bar stools.

But, the company has now confirmed, however, that it will not be a drive-thru store - that was a 'typographical error' on the application to make alterations to the building.

It says the new building, which will need minor external changes, will be a positive addition to the area and bring a vacant unit back into use

A separate application, submitted for a change of use, says it is anticipated that the opening hours of the proposed coffee shop will be 6:00 am to 11:00 pm every day.

It states that the fact there is no drive-thru means there will be very little external noise and the fact that no cooking is done on-site - apart from heating paninis - means that odours will not be a problem.

The large shop currently has 14 parking spaces and another two will be added if the plans get the go-ahead.

The application also says existing access arrangements are considered to be satisfactory for customers, delivery vehicles and refuse vehicles.

Until recently, Starbucks had a town centre home in Falkirk’s Cineworld complex, but that closed in October due to the coronavirus pandemic.
