Scott Rae is looking forward to welcoming back customers to a newly extended beer terrace at Cheerz Bar from July 6.

The pub has been granted permission by Falkirk Council to increase its outdoor seating in High Street from four tables to 15, providing space to accommodate 30 people while adhering to social distancing rules.

Scott and his business partner, Gary Conry, are among those toasting today’s announcement from First Minister Nicola Sturgeon which confirmed the reopening date for beer gardens in Scotland.

Having paid off ten workers due to its enforced closure, Cheerz will now be able to re-employ two members of staff on a part-time basis.

The bar, which normally has a capacity of 130, will open seven days a week from 10am until 9pm, while operating a two-person-per-table policy.

Scott said: “It’ll brighten up this bottom end of the High Street.

“It’s on a temporary basis but we’re looking at making it permanent going forward if it works. We’ve got an app as well, provided by Tennent’s, which allows people to order from their phones.

“We would like to welcome people back and we will keep them all safe. We’ve missed all our customers.

“I’d like to thank Elaine Grant and the team at Falkirk Delivers, Falkirk Council’s planning department and the licensing department. They’ve reduced a lot of obstacles.”
