Back in June Marshalls PLC, a leading manufacturer of innovative hard landscaping products at sites throughout the UK, took the hard decision to cease all manufacturing operations at its Dollar Industrial Estate site.

At the time it stated the COVID-19 pandemic and a “lower level of demand” for its products meant it had been “unable to find a viable option to keep the Falkirk site operational and therefore it will sadly remain closed”.

Although it has continued operating as a distribution centre, the closure of the manufacturing side of the site reportedly resulted in 95 workers being axed.

Now the firm has announced it will be temporarily restarting the manufacturing machinery at its Falkirk site in January to build stronger stock levels for 2021.

Martyn Coffey, Chief Executive of Marshalls, said: “We want to ensure we’re in the best possible position in 2021 by operating all available machinery. We are making significant investments to expand capacity at other sites but this will take some time.

“Using what is available at Falkirk in the meantime is a logical step to help us to build stock levels to support our Scottish customers. Marshalls are proactively contacting former employees and offering them the opportunity of returning to the business for the period.”

The site is scheduled to begin manufacturing in January.
