The budget supermarket is currently building a new store in the car park beside its current shop on Arnot Street and Kemper Avenue but it is not expected to be ready until next November.

The detailed provisional licence includes arrangements for next Christmas when they will have a temporary area with a bigger selection of licensed products on offer.

Members of Falkirk Council Licensing Board heard that Lidl was a very professional organisation with well-run shops and it was easy for licensing officers to contact their local management.

Members of the Board looked at the proposed layout plan and disability access statements before granting the provisional licence.

Before the shop can open and trade to sell alcohol, they will need to apply for a confirmation of the provisional licence.
