A prospective new site in Polmont is the only one of interest to the company in the Falkirk district.

Lidl has a target of opening 1,000 stores across the UK by the end of 2023 and has committed to investing £1.3bn in the expansion over 2021 and 2022.

A spokesperson for Lidl said: "The 'site requirements brochure' highlights specific locations that are of particular interest within its ambitious growth plans across the UK.”
