Whyte Crane Hire Ltd, which also has a branch in Aberdeen, had reportedly been suffering cash flow problems and KPMG was appointed to handle the administration. All 11 employees at the firm have now been made redundant.

Whyte Cranes provided safe and secure handling of cargo and lifting services to the construction, oil and gas, power generation, rail and transport, alternative energy, logistics and port service industries.

The directors of the firm, located in South Shore Road, had reportedly put their personal funds into the business in order to meet payments but, unfortunately, had been unable to give the firm the lift it needed.

It was stated the company had been affected by challenging market conditions in the Scottish construction and oil and gas sectors and had faced increasing competition in recent years.

A separate company, Whyte Crane Services Limited, will continue to operate and is unaffected by the administration of Whyte Crane Hire.
