Tavel Trade Gazette (TTG) awarded the prestigious title to the team of 15 local employees at Barrhead Travel and they celebrated their big win with a virtual Zoom party.

When the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in March 2020, the Falkirk team supported thousands of customers who were forced to rearrange travel plans.

Store Director, Greig Avinou, said community support has played an important role in their recovery and the team was excited to be back on the High Street again along with other local businesses.

He added: “I’m delighted our team have won this amazing award and have been recognised as the best travel agency In Scotland. Our highly experienced experts have been working tirelessly over the last year to support our clients throughout the pandemic.

"We aim to deliver first-class service and we’re looking forward to continuing to help all of our customers over the coming months. With holidays on hold since last year, we know everyone is really looking forward to getting away on holiday when it is safe to do so and can't wait to help our community organise their dream trips. We hope to welcome everyone back in-store very soon."

TTG editor Sophie Griffiths said: “Now in its sixth year, our TTG Top 50 Travel Agencies initiative sees us scour the UK and Ireland to find the hardest-working, most committed and most successful travel agency businesses in the land.

"Against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, travel agents have been tested to their limits over the past 12 months. But the nation’s best agencies have shone particularly brightly, working tirelessly – often for little or no reward – to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of their customers.

"From repatriating huge volumes of travellers from around the world at the start of the crisis to battling for refunds on their behalf for months on end, their worth really has been proven.

"Each agency that earned a place in our Top 50 list this year worked hard to impress our judges and should feel incredibly proud of what they have achieved."
