Taste Smokehouse Bar/Grill on High Street held a soul-themed celebration on Saturday featuring live DJ entertainment to mark the opening of its licensed bar in what was formerly the York Cafe.

Dozens gathered as the eatery also laid on its full a la carte Scottish smokehouse menu on the night as guests turned out to see how the place has changed.

Director Kyle Murray has revealed his hope for the smokehouse bar/grill venue is for it to become a place where people will go for the food on offer and stay for the entertainment.

He told a meeting of Falkirk Council’s licensing board last year: “We’re trying to create a friendly environment – we don’t want it to be a drinking spot but an entertainment spot. We want to offer a new style of food and a new style of entertainment.”

Taste has table service and the management hope to eventually have an app that will allow people to order food and drinks.
