John McNally has represented the Falkirk constituency in Westminster since 2015 and has had a barber’s business in Denny for over 30 years.

Now he is warning those who own business property to check both their insurance policies and their premises.

He said: “In these uncertain times it’s important that people have the support they need.

“As part of the insurance on my barber’s shop I had to prove that I had checked on the premises if it was closed for any length of time. If I hadn’t, any insurance claim would be jeopardised.

“I believe this will be the case with many businesses, from cafes to retailers, while buildings are sitting empty.

“During lockdown, some insurance companies have extended the usual monthly checks to once every three months. However, not all have.

“I would urge anyone in this position to make sure they know the details of their insurance and what is expected of them.

Don’t get caught out.”
