Lorraine Fleming, who runs Fabric Corner in Falkirk, began making protective facial wear at the start of the coronavirus lockdown when the Scottish Government recommended masks be worn in enclosed spaces.

She has gone on to raise £1800 in aid of the NHS by producing a range of face masks and asking for donations in return.

The Fabric Corner boss, who reopened the store to the public on Monday, has more recently moved into creating and selling masks for the corporate sector and lists the likes of Carron Baths and Specsavers as customers.

Lorraine said: “I ran out of my own fabric!

“I reckon I’ve made over 2500 face masks and I’m about to make more.

“I’ve been doing corporate wear with logos on them as well for Specsavers and I’ve done 600 for Carron Bathrooms and for charities like From Me To You.

“Corporate wear face masks are going to become really big. I’ve got friends who are helping me out.

“We’re a new company but we’ve adapted the business. I’ve been doing loads of corporate wear but I’m going to focus on my customers.

“We’re open to the public and it’s amazing to see my customers back again.”

A desire among her customers to create masks at home is, according to Lorraine, helping Fabric Corner as shoppers are relying on the Cow Wynd shop for materials.

She continued: “People are buying loads of haberdashery like buttons, threads and zips.

“These are things people have run out of and they’re really glad to see us back open.

“If people want a pattern I’m happy to provide these for free if they buy the fabric.

“We need the public’s continued support to keep us here.”
