Staff at the High Street business are relishing the chance to greet familiar faces once again.

Although new social distancing measures such as screens and one-way systems will be in place, customers can expect a traditional warm welcome on arrival.

Carlos Echanove, Bob and Berts area manager, said: “We have missed our customers and missed making coffees.

“We’re looking forward to opening and seeing all our regulars coming back.”

Bob and Berts is sticking to its usual pre-coronavirus lockdown menu and opening hours.

What is new, however, is the smartphone application the company has launched to enable customers to order takeaways and collect meals and drinks in-store.

Carlos added: “We’ve made an app for takeaway and delivery. People could come in before although we weren’t doing collection but now we are.

“That also means we have created jobs locally for the delivery drivers.

"There’s a small charge a bit like Just Eat or Deliveroo. Our delivery fee goes to the driver.”

All employees at Falkirk’s Bob and Berts store have been retained amid the Covid-19 lockdown.

Staff will follow strict hygiene guidance in order to protect one another and those they serve.

Carlos explained: “We’ve fitted screens in front of the tills to separate staff from customers and all the staff are going to have PPE.

“Before, they had to wash their hands every time they changed stations but now they also have to wash their hands every 15 minutes and are wearing gloves constantly and will put new gloves on afterwards.

“We’re going to clean every surface every half an hour and clean the tables and chairs every time a customer leaves.

“We have implemented a one-way system. We have one entrance in High Street and also an entrance in the close.

“Customers will come in through High Street and out through the close so people aren’t going to be crossing paths.”
