Larbert Pharmacy owner June Friel said the feedback from customers who have used the machine, which is located at the front entrance of the Main Street premises, has been really positive since it became operational on June 25.

June said: “People have been loving it, especially with social distancing at the minute – they don’t have to queue and can come in an use the machine anytime. We text you a code when your prescription is ready and you come along and collect it from the dispenser whenever you want.

“Everyone has been asking how they sign up for it and we have our Facebook page. I think it is the convenience it brings to everyone – it’s like a cash dispenser, but instead of withdrawing money you are withdrawing your medication.

“We heard from a couple of customers who said they were actually out for a walk at night and they just passe by the pharmacy and picked up their prescription.” Information on how to go about signing up to use the prescription dispenser is contained on the Larbert Pharmacy Facebook site.

All people have to do is sign up via e-mail then just order their prescription as they would normally.

When it is ready to pick up a text will be sent to their phone with a unique pin code.

Customers then simply enter in the code at the automated dispenser and they will then be able to pick up their prescription which has been stored in the machine.
