The new building would also contain a central kitchen for the Candied chain of ice-cream parlours as well as offices for Harry Dhillon Holdings and warehouse space.

The application to Falkirk Council says the current building at Port Downie, beside the Forth & Clyde Canal, is unfit for purpose, and it wishes to invest in the area by replacing it with a new one.

It states: “The intention is to improve the local amenity by providing a new, mixed use building that will accommodate the business requirements of the applicant and an ice cream parlour that will benefit from the pedestrian footfall along the towpath of the Forth and Clyde Canal,”

The new building would be slightly smaller and would have six parking spaces.
