The board heard that new owner Mr Singh - who took over the business just two weeks before lockdown started - does not intend to introduce the new service until some point in the new year.

The shop will use the Snappy Shopper app which contains prompts to make sure staff are checking the age of people buying alcohol and asking for ID from anyone who looks under 25.

All staff will be employed directly by the store and all will receive training.

Mr Singh has also been granted permission to extend the area where alcohol is sold.

Representing the shop, Gordon Emslie said that this was to introduce new, better refrigeration.

Mr Emslie said: "During lockdown there was an increase in demand for a wider range of beers in particular."
