Salons have been given the green light to reopen as of Monday, April 5 by the Scottish Government after being forced to shut in late December as coronavirus restrictions were tightened.

For one Denny woman in particular, though, Monday can’t come quickly enough as she is preparing to welcome customers through the doors of her new Camelon-based business for the first time.

“I’ve worked in salons since I was 14. I worked at Cooper and Co in Falkirk, a wee salon in Denny and then Tweedie and Marshall in Falkirk for eight or nine years and decided, ‘Why not?’

“I really hope it runs well, that it’s popular and I get on my feet and I’m here for another 50 years.”

Although the businesswoman will start out on her own, she is keen to recruit “two or three team members” as she also has a family of her own.

The colour and cut specialist hopes her friendly nature will keep a steady stream of clients coming back for haircuts.

“We’ll do a head massage when taking colours off and before the shampoo. People are more than welcome to come and I hope they have a great experience and they come back.”
