The Wee Studio in Bonnybridge is donating all of the proceeds from sales of its jingle bells to ROOTS Helping Hands Food Share so those in need don’t go without.

Owner Lauren Campbell was approached by shoppers eager to get their hands on bells so little ones could take part in the Worldwide Santa's Christmas Eve Jingle.

As a friend of ROOTS volunteers, Ms Campbell sensed an opportunity to support those less fortunate and has since handed over £750 to the Bonnybridge-based food bank.

With almost 300 bells sold so far, she expects that figure to reach £1000 once the remaining products are snapped up.

Ms Campbell, who opened her store in High Street just prior to the first coronavirus lockdown, said: “People started asking me if I could get them and I thought, ‘Let’s do that!’

“All of the proceeds are going to ROOTS to provide food for Christmas dinners.”

Teresa Cochrane, ROOTS co-founder and treasurer, said: “We would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Lauren on behalf of the group for her continued support to our food bank.

“Her kindness has touched so many and the response she has had from the Bonnybridge community has been phenomenal.

“What a special feeling to know the children of Bonnybridge will be jingling for Santa thanks to her! We'd like to wish her well in her new shop and long may her success continue.”

Also a professional photographer with a background in advertising, Ms Campbell set up her shop with the idea of offering alternative, environmentally friendly products.

She added: “There have been certain challenges this year!

“I wanted to do something different. All of my cards are by artists and all of the stock is biodegradable and eco-friendly.

“We do lots of artisan food and garden products.”

Despite being less than a year old, The Wee Studio has a claim to fame.

It is now the only high street business in Scotland offering the world’s first wooden diecast toy, the Candylab Cars Americana Retro, brought in all the way from Brooklyn, New York.
