Cafe of the Year 2018: And the winner is...
Readers of the Falkirk Herald have been voting for their favourite cafe for the last few weeks...
And now it has been revealed that the winner is... The Topiary Coffee Shop in Polmont.
Based in the Klondyke Garden Centre on Beancross Road, the cafe saw off stiff competition from a 33-strong list of nominees.
Delighted manager Ailsa McKay, who took on the role last year, beamed with pride as she told The Falkirk Herald what she believed set The Topiary Coffee Shop apart from the rest.
She said: “We are really pleased. My staff here have all been here for a long time.
“We get on well. We’re in here to do a job but we have fun with the customers.
“In the last year we’ve tried to go home made with our baking and soups. It’s all done by our own staff on the premises and that makes a difference.
“I would like to thank my staff and our customers for their support. The customers give us a lovely day, it’s a lovely environment.”
The keenly contested competition saw Pots in Falkirk’s Cow Wynd claim the runner-up spot, while Blossoms Bistro, of Bellsdyke Road, Larbert, finished in third place.
Nicky Stirling, owner of Pots, said: “It’s great to have finished second, especially knowing the customers are behind you and have taken the time to vote for you.
“We’ve had quite a positive reaction since we opened and we’ve only been here a year-and-a-half.
