'Big pharma' firm plans to build massive new facility in Grangemouth

People of Grangemouth will be able to have their say on proposals to construct a large scale drugs manufacturing facility in the town.

Piramal Healthcare UK Ltd, based in Grangemouth’s Earls Road, is proposing to lodge a planning application to build a manufacturing facility, office and associated development near Roseland Hall, in the town's Earl’s Gate Business Park.

The firm is taking part in online consultations ahead of plans being lodged in December.

The firm’s first online consultation for the Grangemouth development runs from October 1 to October 22 and the second from November 4 to November 18.

A spokesperson for Piramal said: “The COVID-19 pandemic means it is not currently possible to hold public meetings without posing significat risk to public health. The Scottish Government has introduced legislation to temporarily suspend the requirement for a public event and run online consultations as an alternative.

“There will be the opportunity to leave a comment or ask any questions.”

Updated information will be available between November 4 and November 18.

All comments about the plans should be submitted no later than Friday, November 27.
