BID looks for future backing from town

The current Business Improvement District five year term is almost up and people are being asked to agree to it going ahead for another period.

The ballot is underway now until May 26.

The team at Falkirk Delivers has been busy getting the message across on the benefits of continuing the BID

Edward Linton-Smith, project manager, admitted for most of its operational term, Falkirk Delivers doesn’t need to take credit for all of its work, concentrating instead on working for the businesses it represents.

However, that changes every five years.

He said: “When it comes to renewal ballot, it’s vitally important to let businesses know just how much it achieves on their behalf.

“There is really strong support across all sectors – our October survey of businesses in the BID area showed that over 80 per cent of respondents were in favour – but this must translate into ‘Yes’ votes. “All consistent town centre promotion events such as this April’s Pirates & Princesses Parade and security measures such as our Street Ambassadors and Radio Link would be gone by June 2016. This doesn’t even scratch the surface of Falkirk Delivers’ activity over the last eight years and its sudden discontinuation is a prospect that member businesses will not want to consider.

“I would encourage all businesses to read over the Business Plan that arrived with the ballot papers and vote ‘Yes’ to continue with Falkirk Delivers.”
