Applications for help soar from Falkirk businesses in lockdown

Falkirk Council is highlighting the support packages it can offer to businesses as applications for help soar.

The council says it received 238 new requests for the Scottish Government’s Strategic Framework scheme in just 40 hours - more than they received from the scheme's launch in November up to end of December.

The council’s website has been updated to show the help available, distributed by Falkirk Council on behalf of the Scottish Government.

As well as the strategic framework business fund, there is also the business adaptation fund; business resilience fund; business restart loan; short-term loans for businesses; and other financial support.

The support teams in Business Gateway and Finance Services now have extra staff to help handle the rise in applications.

Environmental Health staff can also help businesses who need guidance on protective measures associated with operating safely.

Guidance for taxi drivers has not yet been issued.

It is anticipated that payment of grants will be made on January 26.
