Exhibition in Grangemouth of images of industry past

A brand new photographic exhibition will give people a peep at the booming industries of the past when the Falkirk area was a hotbed of production.

The exhibition will run from Saturday until January 11 in the formerly vacant premises in York Arcade, Grangemouth.

Run by Falkirk Community Trust’s Heritage Lottery-funded Great Place project, there are three separate – but still connected – working parts to this pictorial showcase of industry.

The first is Historic Environment Scotland’s Industry and Aesthetics travelling exhibition which features stunning images from the National Record of the Historic Environment.

Then there is the From the Falkirk Archive section which highlights the evocative photographs of Tom Astbury, documenting the change and loss of local industries in the area over the years.

Finally – dealing with the past, present and future of industry – there is the New Outlooks display featuring winning entries from the Images of Industry photographic competition and depicting fresh outlooks on industrial places, past and present.

The exhibition will be open to view from 1pm to 4.30pm, four days a week.
