Falkirk Debenhams store to close as retailer reveals likely timeline

The Howgate Shopping Centre store – currently closed due to coronavirus restrictions – will shut its doors to customers “permanently” once all of its stocked has been cleared.
Debenhams went into administration for a second time last April and its hopes of survival rested on sole bidder JD Sports, which pulled out in late 2020.

It was stated at the conclusion of this process, if no alternative offers had been received, all UK operations – including Falkirk – would close.
The firm has now provided details of a timeline for the closure of all of its stores.
A Debenhams spokeswoman said: “Stores will reopen once lockdown ends to complete the stock clearance – anticipated to take four to six weeks – and then close permanently.”
