District footballers Nicola Docherty and Sam Kerr have both been included in Pedro Martinez Losa’s latest Scotland squad for the upcoming Euro 2025 qualifying double-header against Israel.

Scotland currently sit second in League B’s Group 2 after picking up four points from their opening two fixtures – which saw the Scots draw 0-0 in Serbia before beating Slovakia 1-0 at home – and they now play Israel at Hampden on Friday, 31 May before travelling to Budapest four days later.

Rangers ace Docherty, 31, who hails from Redding, will come into the squad on the back of a SWPL1 title showdown with Celtic and a Scottish Cup final against Hearts while Bayern Munich star Kerr, 25, recently lost out on the DFB Pokal final with her team – although she enjoyed Bundesliga title glory a week earlier.

The ex-Central Girls midfielder will mark a year with the German giants after leaving Rangers they day before the first clash with Israel.

Pro-Palestinian protests are expected outside Hampden for that match in Glasgow, and ticket restrictions are already in place.

Only Scotland supporters' club members or those who have gone to any of Scotland women's past four home matches can buy tickets.

Asked about the potential for protests because of the ongoing Gaza war, head coach Martinez Losa said: "That is an aspect we cannot control.

"As a head coach, I am not in control of these circumstances. We have been put in a position where Uefa has said we have to play these games.

"Whether I'm comfortable or not from my personal view doesn't matter, the job has to be done for Scotland and I remain focused on that.

"We will discuss the disruptions of restricted tickets and venue changes with the leadership group and staff to make sure players are protected."

The qualifiers take place between April and July, with the tournament scheduled for July 2025 in Switzerland. In what is a convoluted qualification campaign, the top two teams from the League A groups will qualify automatically, with the other two sides entering the play-offs.

The nations in Leagues B and C - including the Scots - are competing to reach the play-offs.
