Police in Forth Valley warn about latest scams targeting individuals and businesses

Police have warned the scammers and businesses to be alert for scammers who may target them.

This week officers in Forth Valley took to social media to spread the message about the latest scams.

They posted that people were being encouraged to pay bogus fines by sending vouchers.

Businesses were also asked to be on their guard from fraudsters turning up to hand deliver letters claiming to be from HMRC demanding payment.

They stated: “Police will never ask you to pay a fine with vouchers! Fraudsters are posing as Police and trying to encourage people to pay bogus fines by sending vouchers codes.

"It has come to our attention that fraudsters are attending businesses in the Forth Valley and hand delivering letters claiming to be from HMRC demanding payment.”

They said there was information about letters from HMRC here which will allow people to check if any correspondence is genuine.
