Firefighter Stevie McCrorie has asked his work colleagues to keep his job open for him - just in case his new-found fame doesn’t last!

The 30-year-old made the joke as he sat in Tom Jones’ red chair, with wife Amy, after winning BBC talent show ‘The Voice’ on Saturday night.

Stevie’s debut single ‘Lost Stars’ went straight to number one in the charts on Sunday night - just 24 hours after the father-of-one’s success in the show final, which was broadcast from Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.

The firefighter’s version of the song, penned by Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, was released at midnight on Saturday and by Sunday morning it had become the most downloaded track in the iTunes charts.

Hours before ‘The Voice’ show final, we had an exclusive interview with Stevie’s eldest brother Michael who explained how they first discovered he was a talented singer.

Michael also said the family were excited about the final and were confident that Stevie could win.
