A dynamic duo of dancers from Central Scotland Ballet School showed pointes make prizes at the recent Royal Academy of Dance junior awards day in Edinburgh.

Eleven-year-olds Riona Clifford, from Larbert, and Serena McCall, from Rumford, pictured above with Central Scotland Ballet School principal Jacqueline Clark, were just two of 140 youngsters from across Scotland taking part in the awards day, which included workshops in ballet, jazz, cheer dance and musical theatre.

Both girls showed rare aplomb, putting on a bravura display at the event, with Riona winning her Grade Three class and Serena coming top in Grade Four.

Serena was then named the overall winner for the whole event and took home £200.

The school’s Amanda Clark said: “Serena has also been selected from thousands of hopefuls to join the prestigious Royal Ballet School Associate scheme and has been travelling down to Newcastle each weekend for elite training sessions.”
