A Falkirk teenager has taken one step closer to her dreams of stardom this week as she released her first single.
Hayley Johnston’s debut, Something Perfect, is now available to download on iTunes.
The former St Mungos pupil, who performs as Hayley J, wrote and co-produced the catchy track herself.
Hayley, who has just started at Laine Theatre Arts in London studying musical theatre, said: “I’ve been singing since I was about five, and when I was younger I used to write little songs and poems.
“My mum and dad said that I was quite good at it.
“I have been with my vocal coach Chris Judge for 10 years, and he suggested that he knew a producer I could work with. “I started working with Greig Friel at the start of the year, and we have now produced this first single together.”
Hayley also shot a video for the single - with scenes taking place in Laurieston’s Welfare hall, and in her family’s nightclub, Storm.
The 18-year-old said: “It was great fun.
“Basically I just got all my friends together, and we had to pretend we were having fun on a night out.
“It was a long day - it started at 3 p.m. but we didn’t finish until around 1 a.m. - I really enjoyed it though.”
A keen dancer, Hayley also performs with Dancedreams Theatre School and with them won through the Scottish heats of the That’s Showbiz competition.
Six teams from the school will take part in the finals in Blackpool in the new year.
Hayley, who was runner up in the Falkirk Herald’s Face of Falkirk competition, said: “I love doing it all - singing, dancing and acting.
“I have been performing since I was really young.
“I’ve been dancing since I was one and a half and I also do a Hannah Montana tribute show at children’s birthday parties. “I’ve really enjoyed the writing side of things, and it’s exciting to get my own work out there - it’s a really good feeling to know that it’s my song that people are listening to.”
