The silence as been broken over the next film festival heading for the Hippodrome.
Scotland’s only festival dedicated to silent cinema will run from March 12-16 next year, featuring rare films, much-loved classics and innovative live musical accompaniment at Scotland’s oldest purpose-built cinema.
Organised by Falkirk Community Trust, with key funding from Creative Scotland and Falkirk Council, the 2014 festival promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Festival director Alison Strauss says “With three good years under our belts, this festival really has proved itself and earned its place alongside the must-see cultural events that make Scotland such an exciting place to live and visit. We’ve got a strong programme lined up, in an exceptional venue, drawing on archive collections from across the world and the skills of the most accomplished silent film musicians. All that remains to complete the magic is the response of the expectant audience. My advice to everyone is: save the dates!”
Tickets to the festival go on sale in early February when the full programme is announced. For more information, go to www.hippfest.co.uk.
