David Weatherston has signed a new contract with Falkirk that will keep him at Westfield until at least summer 2013.

The 25-year-old wingman put pen to paper on Tuesday and will play a key role in Steven Pressley’s plans for next season.

The Bairns boss told Heraldsport that Weatherston was an “unsung hero in the team”.

“David is a terrific player and I’m really delighted that he’s signed a new deal.

“He plays with speed and energy and gives us several attacking options. You can tell that he’s enjoyed his season and is well-settled at the club.”

Weatherston joined Falkirk in August last year on an initial six-month deal having spent three years at Queen of the South.

The 5’7” forward has scored four goals in 20 league appearances this season, most recently in the 5-2 defeat away to Livingston.
