Half a dozen Falkirk swimmers will head south in September to represent Scotland.

The UK schools Games will see six swimmers who train at Grangemouth Sports complex compete with a Saltire on their swimwear.

The splashing six selected to head for Sheffield in three months are: Dale McAnish, Gregor Birrell, Rebecca Murray and Charlotte McKenzie from Falkirk Otters ASC and Kayrine Kelly and Craig Knight from Bo’ness ASC.

Further congratulations are being extended to Charlotte McKenzie too.

She broke the Scottish Senior 50m backstroke record in a time of 30.15 seconds competing for Scotland at the recent Celtic Tri-Nations Championships in Cardiff.

Charlotte is 14 years old and also broke the Scottish Junior and Scottish Age Group record at the same time.

It was a hectic schedule for the teenager combining her schoolwork with swimming. Before jetting off to Cardiff she had to sit her Standard Grade Chemistry exam in a hotel overlooking Glasgow Airport.
