A quartet of Clark Eriksson Fury’s 21 Scottish internationals gave a good account of themselves in Sweden last week-end.
Owen Martin, Emma Norval, Carmen Tran and Ben McGinley were all in Gothenburg with Norval being handed the captaincy of her country for the Gothenburg Festival tournament.
Norval was joined by Carmen Tran in the Scottish under-13 squad.
Both will make the step up to Fury’s Cadette Ladies team next term where Norval’s leadership qualities and Tran’s ball-handling will improve the squad.
Ben McGinley was a key member of Scotland’s undefeated under-12 team and showed great skill in the point guard spot.
McGinley has been in Fury’s Development squad for two years, and getting an early opportunity to play European opposition which included teams from Sweden, Latvia and Spain was a fantastic opportunity to develop his game for the future.
Completing the Fury Four was U13 Scotland boys team member Owen Martin who also stepped up for the first time to the international stage abroad and gave a great account of himself.
Owen, like Emma and Carmen, will also move out of Fury’s Development squads into the National league Cadet team and the experience in Sweden will be of great benefit to his season ahead.
Former Fury player, Scotland international and Olympic Team GB hopeful Kieron Achara was a guest on Sunday’s Off the Ball Sunday supplement on BBC Radio Scotland with Jane Lewis and Tam Cowan.
The show can be heard again on BBC iPlayer.
