FALKIRK rugby club finally fell victim to the weather this season, when their cup match with Howe of Fife was called off.

Last year the club had a miserable run with Sunnyside under several inches of snow but that is unlikely to be the case ahead of Perthshire’s visit to CALA Park on Saturday.

It headlines a feast of rugby at the club’s Camelon ground.

The second string is also due to play Perthshire while the under-18s have a local derby against Grangemouth.

The first XV match will complete this year’s fixtures, but a re-arranged match with Howe should be scheduled for early next month before the league system restarts.

The Sunnysiders survived previous weekend wash-outs when they managed to play a friendly match in Aberdeen last month in the warm-up for the cup competition where they lost to Stirling County.

However, though the away match was cancelled, sides were able to play and there was triple success.

Falkirk’s S1 and S2 teams defeated Biggar 27-9 and 34-12 respectively while the older under-16s team saw off Glenrothes by a stunning 87 points to 15. n Saturday will also see a Husband Creche facility at the clubhouse, beginning at 1 p.m. with pick-ups at 5 p.m. Space is limited to 15.
