Stenhousemuir lost their unbeaten league record when they were beaten by East Kilbride at the Tryst on Saturday by eight wickets. The 2nd XI also lost to 2nd East Kilbride at Torrance House.
Batting first,’Muir made 149 all out. Their cause was not helped by four run outs.
They lost Tim Doonan, Shahzad Rafiq and Rushdi Jappie for single figures at 54 for three. A good partnership between Amir Shahzad and Craig Black improved the situation but with the score on 111, the cricketer’s dreaded ‘Nelson’, Shahzad was caught on the boundary for 42. Black was then run out for 37 and from 130 for five, the side were all out for 149.
In reply, Kleinveldt and Singh put on 66 for the first wicket. Ian Mcdonald then had Singh caught by Tim Doonan for 27 and had had Kampman lbw with the next ball but there was no further joy as Kleinveldt and Bocock saw East Kilbride home by eight wickets.
In the earlier midweek West League Cup, ‘Muir lost to Drumpellier at Langloan. They made 118 for 6. Rushdi Jappie made 48 and Yasser Arfat 20. Drumpellier reached 119 for three. Bobby Angus, Amir Shahzad and Gary Halcrow each took a wicket.
At Torrance House, the 2nd XI made 155 all out. Graham Gardner made 42, Dan Smith made 32 and Peter Moses 22. East Kilbride made 159 for three. Ben Arkley took two wickets and Craig McIntosh, one.
On Saturday the 1st XI are away to Ferguslie, with the 2ndXI fixture at the Tryst. On Sunday there is a CSL40 match at the Tryst against Renfrew.
